Korea University of Energy Technology (President Yoon Eui-joon) recently held a GAMS (Grid, AI, Material, Safety) convergence major signboard ceremony to foster intelligent electrical safety personnel at Kentec Hall, the first building of Korea Institute of Energy.

In May, Korea Energy Agency was finally selected for an energy manpower training project organized by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and supported by the Korea Energy Technology Evaluation Institute, and will receive about 4.75 billion won in state funding over the next five years.

Business support organizations, participation and partners, including Kwon Ki-young, head of the Korea Energy Technology Evaluation Institute, and Noh Joo-hyun, an official at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, attended the signboard ceremony.

Korea Energy Technology will establish a new GAMS convergence major in graduate school to train about 20 electrical safety convergence talents annually.

GAMS Convergence Major plans students to learn about electrical safety independently based on ▲ Specialized Major (Grid, AI, Material, Safety) ▲ Convergence Major (Fusion Research between Specialized Major) ▲ Corporate-linked subjects. In addition, a curriculum specialized in fostering convergent talents for electrical safety will be conducted through active exchanges and cooperation with companies.

In particular, GAMS Convergence Major will participate in one joint research company (Incored Technologies) and 18 partners (KM Data, Itus, Enit, Zion E&S, Soland, On, Withbeer, SK Solar Energy, SZ Energy, Seochang Telecommunication, Vitz Lois, Dongwoo Electric, Next, Dip, SD, E&S.

Kwon Ki-young, head of the Korea Energy Technology Evaluation Institute, said, "We plan to celebrate the selection of the Graduate School of Electrical Safety Convergence and provide cooperation and support to cultivate electrical safety convergence talents that can contribute to carbon neutrality."

Yoon Eui-joon, president of Korea Energy Technology University, said, "Korea Energy Agency will spare no effort to develop problem-solving convergence talents through continuous cooperation with participating companies and partners, not unilateral education."
