ENITT (CEO Ki Song-do), a company specializing in artificial intelligence (AI) solutions for disaster safety management, announced on the 6th that it is smoothly promoting the demonstration and commercialization of AI-based optical fiber acoustic distribution sensing (e-DAS) system.

The e-DAS system is a product developed with distributed optical sensor-based AI technology that can monitor various situations in real time, such as railway track abnormalities, falling rocks, intruders, train location and speed, and track departure, amid continuous railway safety accidents every year. It is possible to monitor operation information such as the location of train speed and unexpected situations around the track in real time, such as construction, falling rocks, external intrusion, and track abnormalities. Using distributed optical sensor technology, it is possible to accurately measure vibration in a long-distance continuous section with a single strand of optical fiber to detect abnormalities, prevent accidents, and inspect various facilities and structures up to 50km. There is no malfunction due to interference with surrounding electromagnetic waves, weather, environment, etc.

In particular, abnormal signals generated by surrounding vibrations are collected in real time at 10m intervals through optical fibers installed on the side of the track to make a distribution map, and then train speed and location are determined through deep learning AI.

ENITT's e-DAS system, which was transferred and introduced by the Korea Optical Research Institute, is considered a technology that can prevent train derailments and various accidents around railway tracks that can lead to large casualties.

The company monitors various unexpected situations of railway tracks in real time by applying an e-DAS system to the 50km high-speed railway section between Gongju and Osong and the 20km general railway section between Gyeryong and Seojeon. In addition, it is challenging to localize and commercialize AI-based optical fiber temperature distribution sensing (e-DTS) by securing original technology for the first time in Korea, such as smart management system in Gwangju and 4.8km underground communication area in Gwangju.

ENITT is additionally promoting industrial site conveyor lines and power facility safety monitoring system services this year. It is expanding its business to various industrial infrastructure such as power plants, oil pipelines, bridges, ports, and subways.

"With active technology development, we will become a leader in the digital new deal policy," CEO Ki Song-do said. "We will also lead the global market based on the 'Made in Korea' brand power and technological competitiveness in overseas markets."
