5. [Energy Daily] KEPCO, 42 startups selected in 2020… Conclusion of non-face-to-face agreement

The Bitgaram Innovation Center, operated by Korea Electric Power Corporation (CEO Kim Jong-gap), signed a non-face-to-face online business agreement with KEPCO Energy Startup at the Energy Valley Enterprise Development Institute in Naju Innovation City on the 10th.

 

The KEPCO energy startup selected this time began a public offering in August this year for start-ups in the energy sector, and a total of 42 out of 128 companies were finally selected through document and presentation screening and on-site inspection.

 

The Bitgaram Innovation Center will provide ▲ up to 200 million won in funds for ▲ companies over two years, provide offices for Bitgaram Innovation Center, use of KEPCO's demonstration test center, ▲ KEPCO's use of patent technology and mentoring in each field.

 

In addition, it will continue to provide various support such as KEPCO's joint growth program, investment institution connection, and cooperation with start-up-related institutions so that it can continue to grow into a strong exporter. It will also strive to market and develop markets for startups by utilizing BIXPO export consultation meetings, energy technology markets, and online export product halls.

 

The Bitgaram Innovation Center has discovered and fostered 302 startups since it opened for the first time in a public company and the 19th time in the country on February 8, 2017. It achieved results such as 307.9 billion won in cumulative sales, 55 billion won in investment attraction, and 623 jobs.

 

SolarConnect, a solar platform startup, created 42 billion won in annual sales, 30 billion won in investment attraction, and 77 jobs within three years of its foundation. In the case of Starcorp Co., Ltd., it collaborated with KEPCO on 220V outlet-type electric vehicle charging service and started full-scale business after completing pilot operation in April and June. Reevest Co., Ltd., which has grown into a next-generation battery leader by successfully developing flexible batteries, is also considered a representative startup fostered by the Bitgaram Innovation Center.

 

An official from KEPCO said, "We plan to support the process of commercializing ideas and linking industries that require long research and time to foster promising startups that will lead green new deals and digital transformation in the future, and create a sustainable ecosystem for startups to collaborate with existing companies in Energy Valley."
